Gonyostomum semen (Ehrenberg) Diesing 1866
Gonyostomum semen, is a single-celled flagellate with two flagella with different structure and function (heterokont). One of the flagella is visible in this optical longitudinal transect of the cell. The triangles point to some of the peripheral trichocysts, a trait that separates Gonystomum from Vacuolaria virescens (1)
