Coleps amphacanthus; left: single plate of the anterior part with 5 windows; right: two plates of the posterior part of the cell with 4 windows each. The plates which are composed of calcified polysaccharides are resistant against the treatment with NaOCl- solution which was applied to this sample. The arrows point to artefacts, i.e. probably some undissolved cysts of (cyano)bacteria. |
