Anuraeopsis fissa Gosse, 1851
Anuraeopsis fissa, specimen with two drop-shaped amictic eggs. The lower egg has been produced earlier, so it is more developed, showing the eyespot and trophi, while the upper (younger) egg is filled with yolk. (2)

Anuraeopsis fissa is characterized by a special membranaceous organ (WEBER organ, arrowheads) in the gap between the dorsal and ventral plates , which is a special aid for carrying the eggs.(2)

Anuraeopsis fissa is a plankton species; here under the coverslide together with Trachelomonas verrucosa and Gonium pectorale. Sometimes the animals are colonized by sessile euglenoid flagellates, e.g. Colacium sp. (2).

Anuraeopsis fissa, carrying a resting egg, which is characterized by a durable shell. On the left side of the shell is a zooflagellate as epibiont.

Anuraeopsis fissa, another specimen from (1), dorsoventral view.
