Differential diagnosis: can be confused with Philodina rugosa or Habrotrocha crenata. Philodina rugosa has a similar granulated integument, but has dental formula 3/3, has cervical eyespots (on the trunk) . The corona of P. rugosa is much wider. Habrotrocha crenata has dental formula 8/8 and lacks the ligula between the trochal discs. |
